Centre for Environment Education (CEE) India hosts the secretariat for the South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN), set up in July 2002, supported by UNEP, Asia and Pacific.
As a part of this, CEE and Oxfam America are jointly working on a project, Learnings from Tsunami. The project includes documentation of case examples related to Tsunami rehabilitation work in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia.
To document case examples in India, CEE announces: Internship for Documentation of Case examples related to Tsunami in India.
Objectives
1. To provide youth with an exposure to and an understanding of rehabilitation activities conducted post tsunami.
2. To orient youth to Disaster Management.
3. To help youth refine skills related to documentation.
Programme Details
Duration: 9 weeks
Timeline: 13th November 2006- 14 January 2007
Details
1) Orientation: First week i.e. 13-19th November 2006 the interns will attend an orientation programme which, will be held in Bangalore. This would include classroom sessions and a field visit to an organization working in a tsunami affected area.
2) Field Placements: For 6 weeks (From 20th November 2006 to 31st December 2006).
The interns will be placed with CEE, Ahmedabad and their internship profiles would be to document case examples related to focus areas identified of organizations that have worked in the Tsunami affected areas.
Each intern will be travelling to one State/ UT and will document case examples related to tsunami in their respective areas. For this they would interact with organizations, government department, communities and others.
The States/UTs which are included are Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Pondicherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
3) Experience Sharing: During the last 2 weeks (1st January 2007- 14th January 2007) the interns will finalize their documentation and there will be sharing of experience with the group. This will happen at CEE, Ahmedabad.
